I am so very excited to announce that my work was selected to be shown in The de Young Open! This is an exhibition featuring local Bay Area artists. It is the first such exhibition of it’s kind at the museums.
Works of art in The de Young Open will be hung “salon-style”, installed edge to edge and floor to ceiling, which enables a maximum number of works to be displayed. While this installation style precludes the ideal placement of every individual work, it will enable them to display the maximum number of Bay Area artworks and underscores their desire to promote the local artist community. Less than 8 percent of submissions made it into the final exhibition - more than 11,000 were submitted, and fewer than 900 made it to the final.
The de Young has now filled the 12,000-square-foot Herbst Exhibition Galleries with 877 artworks by 762 Bay Area artists for The de Young Open. The museum is now open to the public and you are invited to visit the exhibition celebrating the museums 125th Anniversary.
